The year is 1983. Supplies and entertainment are both running low. A technical editor from the future suddenly appears with a security style guide from 2018 and challenges you to spell terms as they appear in the guide. Sure, you can survive “chatroom” and “sandbox,“ but you get a sinking feeling that in later rounds, capitalization is going to count too. The odds are against you, but it’s the end of the world… you might as well go out in a blaze of glory.
Technical Editor Brianne Hughes will conduct SpellCheck: The Hacker Spelling Bee at The Circle of HOPE conference on Friday, July 20th at 11:59 PM.
To claim your spot, sign up at the conference information desk at 10:00 AM on Friday morning, July 20th. Registration is on a first come, first served basis with a maximum of 20 spellers. After registering, please arrive 10 minutes before midnight to receive your badges and some final instructions.
All terms that appear in the most recent version of the style guide are on the table. Download the Bishop Fox Cybersecurity Style Guide (V1.1) Here and check out the SpellCheck Spelling Bee rules here.
